Wordpress Monetizing Plugins: Sell Cafepress items through your blog
Very recently, the amazingly successful blog FreelanceSwitch started selling t-shirts with designs related to topics they cover. They are using Cafepress to manage the online shop where they are selling the shirts, but they are wasting a good opportunity to sell more than they are selling now because they are not promoting the products as diligently as they should.
The only way you can know about Cafepress’s FreelanceSwitch shop is by reading about it through this post, but they could do it a lot better if they have used Cafepress Wordpress Plugin, a plugin that allows you to sell Cafepress stuff through your blog. With Cafepress Wordpress Plugin, you can create as many shops as you want and add to them items from the Cafepress shops you like. Of course you can add items from your own Cafepress shop using your shop id so you can promote your own products, but the most interesting option that this plugin offers is the possibility to sell Cafepress items from other’s shops so you can make money thanks to the Cafepress Affiliate Program.
The plugin is very easy to install. You just have to activate it and then create a PrestoGifto (plugin’s creators) account and you are done to start creating your blog’s shops. This is done by selecting the items you want to show by keyword or Cafepress Shop Id. Then you select how to order your products in a very visual and easy way, and finally you have to decide where do you want to show your shop.
Shirts can be shown on the sidebar, footer, below random posts or in a page devoted only to your shop. I recommend the last option as the best one because it gives you a lot more space than just showing shirts in a small box in the sidebar, and it also allows you to present your visitors with a much more professional shop.

Hi Roberto,
This is very helpful. I like this plugin’s ability to sell items from others’ CafePress shops.
Most people don’t realize (until they sell nothing) that you have to have a really great design to sell stuff — something funny or graphically beautiful. Just listing a bunch of stuff with a bland logo is not enough to sell anything.
Best,

Hi Anita,
It is absolutely true. It’s like the difference between a big mall and a small bazaar. Small bazaar’s owners think they do it well but if they want to sell more and be competitive they need a better image. It’s the same for online shops.
Anyway, it is important to say that image it’s not the only factor. First and foremost you have to create value with your products/services.
It’s always very nice to have such a good blogger as you in this blog
Thanks a lot Anita for coming and leaving a message
