The 11th tip for effective freelancing

As a follow up for the Top 10 tips for effective freelancing tips post, I’ll add the following one:

Never follow any of the excuses listed by Matt Coddington in Top 7 most common freelancer excuses. Instead, always prefer to be honest (especially when deadlines are near). But surely you are already honest, don’t you? :)

Beyond jokes, this is a fairly common problem with freelancing relationships. For its very nature, freelancing must be based on trust, and if you don’t take care of trust you are risking to lose it. So, to keep a good relation with your employer be sure to maintain good visibility among all your tasks, meet deadlines, and never, ever, let pass too much time without contact, even when you weren’t the one that ended the contact. Your employer may think you don’t want his job anymore.

Matt is a guy that has been on freelancing for several years, in both sides, so he knows what he’s talking about when he speaks about freelancing (and its excuses ;)). Besides that he’s the gifted blogger behind Net Business Blog, a very successful blog about the same topic covered by RobertoAlamos.com: make money online. You will get plenty of good ideas reading his blog so do it. And now.

I have saved you from being discovered while not working, so please considerate subscribing to RobertoAlamos.com by email or RSS. You know you want.
