Five reasons you should practice prayer »

Let’s avoid solemnity in our relationship with God!

A great obstacle in our relationship with God in these times it’s the presence of the multiple barriers that have been raised through the years between God and us. Fear of God, the prophets, the church, rituals and the solemnity that religion tells us we must consider when talking with our Father, denies us the joy to live a free relation with Him in the way we consider correct.

If we avoid solemnity when approaching Him then we will create much richer relationship because we will be able to feel Him as the lovely father He is, and not only as an almighty entity seated in a throne million of light years away and who’s hardly concerned with us. God is indeed a loving and merciful, beautiful and just, eternal and true father who governs the whole Universe, but that simultaneously worries about us like the best one of the human fathers. And what good human father does not wish that its son recognize him and calls him ‘dad’ instead of `Sir’? In the same way imagine how much He enjoys when we talk and call him ‘dad’ instead of a dry ‘Lord’. Only taking that small step towards ahead, we demolish hundreds of years of barriers that separates us from Him.

When you pray do it naturally, as if you were speaking to one of your human parents, because, after all, He is that and much, much more.

To finish I recommend you to search in Google for the meaning of the Aramaic word ‘Abba‘, that Jesus used to name God in the movie “The Passion of the Christ”. I knew its meaning before I watched the movie and I found remarkable the use of that expression in the film :)
