Six things to do when you want to reconnect with God »

First post (or what this blog will be about)!

Welcome to RobertoAlamos.com :) In this blog you will find useful and interesting articles about the topic of the relation between God and humankind.

I have never studied this issue from an intellectual perspective because I believe that you will reach nothing trying to understand God from a rational viewpoint. Instead you must aproach God through the path of the experience, the experience of searching for Him, not just the experience the years give to you. So, through this blog I offer you everything I have learned from my own search of God.

Although this blog will be written from a religion-free viewpoint I still can’t ignore what my formation gave me. I was raised as a christian, but during the years I had doubts, and then I encountered answers. Sometimes those answers where the same I was taught, sometimes they where different. In the end I came with a set of beliefs that are my very own, nobody created them for me and they are based on my experience and observation. This beliefs are pretty simple, and can be summarized in the following list:

  • There’s only one creator of everything. You can call Him(Her) God, Dios, Allah, Yahweh, Jehovah, Elohim, or other names. That’s up to you and your beliefs. I highly recommend something very familiar like ‘Dad’.
  • Everybody is His(Her) creation. So, yep, we are an enormous family :) sisters and brother everywhere.
  • I don’t know if there are another superior beings (superior to human beings, inferior to God) and I don’t care. If there’s angels, good, they are our sisters and brothers. If not, good too.
  • I’m here, in this life, to grow. And to help others grow. The goal of this whole growth process is God Her(Him)self.
  • I don’t know where I was before this life, but I know I was growing somewhere…
  • I don’t know where I’ll be after this life’s end. The only thing I know is that I’ll be alive, maybe in another form, and I’ll continue the work on my growth process.
  • People will always grow. It doesn’t matter how much effort you put to work against your own growth. It will happen no matter what.

So this blog is not completely religion-free since it’s based on my beliefs, which constitutes my own religion, because I believe that religion is a live and dynamic search for divinity, and not just a blind agreement with some other guy’s dogmas or canons.

Keep in mind also that religion doesn’t have to be a fixed set of dogmas. In fact I expect my own set to evolve in order to better guide me through the continuos growth process.
To finalize, I highly encourage you to question yourself: ‘what are my beliefs regarding to God?‘, ‘Did I choose them?‘ or ‘Did I accept them from my parents/family?‘. I don’t say that my set of beliefs it’s the real religion that everybody was looking for. No. You can agree with my thoughts or not. Instead I say that religion is different for every person so do yourself a favor and spend some minutes thinking about this. In the end you may choose the same stablished religion you were probably following or not, but at least you choose it conciously… that’s a step towards Him (or Her ;)).

What is the aim of your “whole growth process” ?

How do you know that you grow ? If you do not know what you were before and what you did, you can not use your past experiences. Maybe you are blocked in a circle, doing same things in every life.

Hi Sebastien, thanks for your comment.

The objective of my growth process is just God. I don’t know if there’s something after reaching Him, but just to do that it’s worth the effort to me (I like to think that after reaching Him He gives you some tasks, like helping in the creation of a ‘universe’ or something like that :), but I don’t know what really happens).

I know that I grow because I perceive fewer limits. I can express myself better, I have more compassion, I have more courage than before, I’m better expressing love and helping others, etc. I know when I grow because I’m more free.

Certainly I don’t know what I was before, but I like to think that I didn’t arrive here with absolutely nothing. I arrived with a certain degree of development, and after the times of being a child and a teenager I’m finally manifesting myself where I left before (that’s why some people have quasi animal behaviour, while others enlighten the world with their sole presence, it’s just a matter of growth degrees).

I hope that this answer will be of help to you :).

How will you know the day when you will reach him ? Will your growth process stop this day ?

What do you mean exactly by “some people have quasi animal behaviour” ? Do you mean that some people are not conscient about the growth process ? It can be someone growing in an other form at high growth degree.

What is for you an animal behaviour ?

How do you feel when you see someone behaving without compassion ?

I live my life like a game. Since my birth I know that I must improve myself in order to be fine with my conscient before the separation of my body and “I”. I do not know what I was before if I was someone or something and I do not what I will be after if I will be someone or something. Also I do not know if my improvement will serve me. It is just in case of. ;)

Since the beginning of my conception, my parents taught me things that I experimented. This gave me skills in differents fields : compassion, love, relationship, brave, … and so on. And now, sometime I try to see myself like a bird flying can observe human beings. The aim of this operation is to know which kind of skills I must improve. When I see what I need to improve, I do things which can help me.

Doing things can be everything, can interact with other people.

    Hi Sebastien :)

Thanks again for your post. I’ll made an effort to answer every one of your questions.

I’ll know when I reach him because I’ll be in his presence, and as I said, I don’t know if there’s something after that, but I like to think that everybody will help in some creation tasks after that point :).

For me a quasi animal behaviour is an unconsciouss one, a life where you don’t guide your way, a life where things just happen, a life where you don’t choose what’s your next step. Quasi animal lives choose violence as a tool, try to destroy things that they don’t agree, move others by fear and have a lot of fear themselves, which is not something very smart because if you only have a look at the world then you can quickly realize that everything was put there for our joy.

During my short life I haven’t had many times where I have seen non-compassive behaviour directly. Instead I have mostly watched it through the media, like the Israel-Lebanon conflict, and I feel very distressed about that, facing the fact that the only way that I can help there is by praying. Well, I think that this thing will not be that way anymore. This blog is an step on the direction of trying to help a little more :).

I’m very happy to read from you that you’re constantly trying to improve :) that’s very good by itself, and if it happens that you feel that something is not useful for you, maybe only by looking at your side you’ll see that it was useful for something else :).

    I really appreciate your posts.
Let me give you my tip of seeing me from above :
    - I listen relaxing music (portishead, massive atttac, bliss, alpha… )
    - I drink a bottle of french wine. (A good bottle of chile wine works too) ;)
    - Light must be filtered.

    This is my way !!

  6. Roberto Alamos Says:

Thanks Sebastien, your method is really interesting :) I’ll give it a try in those moments where I want to relax :) (although I will skip step 2 because I don’t drink alcohol at all, even chilean wine ;) which, as you say, seems to be really good).

    Thanks for your comments!
